The History of The Sewing Store.

The store was founded by Sandy Fink in April 1996. Being an avid sewer since the age of 13 years old and a CPA since 1990, Sandy thought to combine her love of sewing and knowledge of business and open her own store. What a crazy idea at the time, but an idea that has never been regretted for moment. The original idea for the store was to provide high-quality products with exceptional service to others with a love of sewing. Bernina machines were the logical place to start. As time went on, Kwik Sew patterns, Mettler threads, notions, books and stabilizers were added. Now the store also stocks high-quality apparel fabrics and quilting fabrics, as well as, all of the supplies necessary for today’s creative sewer. Our classes range from the beginner quilter to the advanced garment sewer. We also don’t forget about the technological part of sewing by providing classes on embroidery software. We also have added some new classes recently to help you design or modify your own patterns. The Sewing Store is the place to go if you love to sew! Enjoy our site.

Hello Sewing Friends and Welcome to The Sewing Store Online.

I hope you spend some time and look around the store. If you have never been to our actual store, please feel free to browse around and hopefully get a feel for all of the great things that we have to offer. We are primarily a Bernina dealer, but we also carry sewing notions, Kwik Sew patterns, apparel fabrics, quilt fabrics and kits, books, threads and embroidery supplies. The store is located in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania about 20 miles north and east of Pittsburgh. If you are ever in the area, please stop by, we would love to meet you.

All of the machines are ready to use. We also have a great selection of accessories and Bernina publications in stock

We stock a large selection of Mettler and Isacord threads. Need embroidery supplies? We carry stabilizers from OESD, designs from Dakota, Bernina and OESD’s ETO system. Find fat quarters from Benartex and Moda.

We LOVE high quality fabrics. You will find such fashion fabrics as—cotton interlocks, wool gabardine, moleskin, corduroy, and Polarfleece to name a few. Also, quilting fabrics and kits from Moda and Benartex. We have Jelly Rolls and Charm Packs too!

That’s Hunter, our German Shepherd/Collie mix and store mascot. He is the Head of Customer Relations and Employee Morale. He started coming to the store as a puppy (10 years ago) and now hates to be left at home. His main goal is to make sure everyone feels welcome and loved. He is an extremely friendly dog who is great with kids. If you don’t like or are afraid of dogs, no problem, we can make him disappear to the back.
